Comment: The consensus seems to that nobody in the class can believe that we are celebrating our 50th reunion and I definitely agree.  I apparently dig my roots very deep.  I have lived within five miles of the high school for my entire life and have been married to classmate Steve Feldman for 43 years.  We are incredibly lucky to have all the kids close by - our son and daughter, their spouses and our four grandchildren who are, of course, the lights of our lives.  I have been retired for two years from my family's packaging business and keep busy spending time with the grandchildren, walking, biking, hiking and volunteering at Childrens' Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House.  We are fortunate to be able to escape a portion of winter in Minnesota by spending a few months each year in California.  It's been lots of fun working on the planning committee for the reunion and we are pleased with what looks like will be a great turnout.  Looking forward to seeing everyone on the 29th!

Comment: REALLY 50 Years since we all marched on to the football field on graduation day!  Time does fly by .  I spent 40 years as a manufacture's rep for a furniture company and am now happily retired. I play a lot of golf ( according to Susie), bike, travel and play with our 4 grandchildren. Our son has 2 girls who are 10 and 8 years old and our daughter has 2 boys 3 years and 10 months old.  best of all, they all are within 15 minutes of our house.  We spend the winters in Palm Springs, Calf. where I play a lot of golf ( again according to Susie ), bike and enjoy the warm weather. I am looking forward to seeing everyone on the 29th.

I’m in Berkeley with my wife of 37 years (Teddy Jolosky’s wife introduced us to one another). Our son and his wife and our daughter all live nearby. And here I am, expecting my first grandchild in January.  I read in so many of your stories on these pages that many of you have 2 or 3 or 5 or 10 grandchildren and I started to wonder – am I just a lot slower than many of my classmates? Then it hit me. No. I must just be a lot younger than many of you – probably by 10 years or so. I figure the simplest answer is usually the best, so that’s my explanation and I’m sticking to it.

My story in a nutshell: College at MIT, then off to 3 years in the Peace Corps, teaching high school math and physics in Malaysia. Back to the US at the end of 1972, marriage, grad schools here and there with a focus on adult education. For the last 25 years or so I’ve been a computer consultant working in government and business, mostly training people to make the best possible use of their computers and software.

My wife directs an adoption program in San Francisco, and my daughter is a social worker with the homeless population there. My son is working hard to finish his PhD at UC Berkeley, focusing on policies associated with the production of alternative energy sources, especially biofuels.

As a side note, In 1971 I came back to the US for a vacation before my third year in the Peace Corps. I traveled back to the US via India where I was the first SLP friend to visit our AFS student, Suresh Mahajan, at his home in Poona.  I stayed with him and his family for about a week during which his family tried to reciprocate a year’s worth of hospitality we all showed him when he went to Park High. I especially remember his mother who was the absolute Indian equivalent to a St. Louis Park Jewish mother, using her son as interpreter – “Eat, eat some more. Is the curry too hot? You’re not eating the lentils, so here, have some more rice and just another ladle of the eggplant. Well maybe two ladles. Eat, eat.” It was all quite amazing.

Suresh and I stayed in touch occasionally over the intervening decades, and he was preparing to take a trip to the US in 2007. We arranged to meet when he came through San Francisco, but just before he was to have arrived, I learned by way of an email from his daughter that he had had a heart attack and passed away before he left India. Suresh was a great addition to my education at Park High.

I look forward to seeing classmates in August.

I remember with fondness my years at good old SLPHS.  We had lots of fun and got an excellent education…what more could one ask!?  And now 50 years later, I feel fortunate to have a good marriage that has lasted 45 years, an interesting, active life, and good health.

After first an 8 year teaching career and then a 26 year career as an entrepreneur, I am happily retired.  We spend half of our time in Palm Springs, CA, where I like to hike, play lots of tennis, do yoga, bicycle, cook, design jewelry, and volunteer at the Palm Springs Art Museum, specifically on the Board of the Architecture & Design Center.  In Minneapolis, our home is on the market and we have purchased a condo in Edina.  It feels liberating to get rid of 38 years-worth of accumulation!  While in MN, we enjoy our cabin near Annandale and love to take advantage of the excellent and abundant live theater Minneapolis has to offer.  We have traveled the US and the world and plan to keep doing so while we can!

Our daughter died at the age of 16 of an acute asthma attack and we miss her even though it’s now been 20 years since we lost her.  Our son is 40, married, lives in Denver, and has 8 year old twins that we adore!

It was fun to work on the Reunion Committee where I did lots of graphic design and was in charge of the decorations.  I hope everyone enjoys celebrating 50 years!

In 2005, I wrote: lived in Turkey and Texas, returned home to Minnesota, met a sister I never knew, finished a master's degree, worked in Puerto Rico and Guam, married a Hungarian, raised a son from India, became a grandmother, learned scuba, practice yoga, never stopped dancing.

I retired in 2012, having spent over 32 years in social work and emergency management at the American Red Cross, meeting and marrying my colleague Charles while there. I also worked one year at the State of Minnesota in pandemic planning and five years as program manager for Travelers' Assistance at MSP Airport. Our son David now is married; he and his wife have four kids.

Charles and I enjoy the vibrant music and theater community here in the Twin Cities. In the past 10 years, we have traveled to Hungary, Israel, Greece, Turkey, Montreal, and Mexico. Time races by as I work in the garden, read, do yoga and swim laps, volunteer at the airport and research our family trees. We both attempt to downsize our home and beat each other at Scrabble.

Comment: Hello everyone! 40 years is a long time, and lots of things have happened in my life. When my sis Deb told me about this website I got my old, dusty Echowan out from the shelf and lots of good memories from my foreign exchange year came back. Except for a year in the French speaking part of Switzerland I've lived in Norway ever since. Wish I could meet you all again in August, but I'll be travelling in the US in July with my husband and a couple of friends, and two trips in one summer is too much. But I'll be thinking of you!
