I married Dana Nelson from West high 31 yrs ago! We've been friends since we were 12 and 13 years old! We moved out of state 7 different places and states for job opportunities for Dana. We were gone from Mpls. For 23 years. What an education that was! I now have empathy for those who have for instance, had to, look for new hairdressers every 3 yrs. Dana just retired last January. We are so far, settled in Mn. For summers, next to Excelsior. We are also living in Palm Springs Ca. In the winter! Nice huh! We have Dana's clan here which includes two adorable grand boys. His other clan is in Bozeman Mt. with adorable two grand girls and one grand boy. Daughter Lauren and husband live in London U.K. Very busy with huge puppy in small space. All very happy! Life is good! Glad to be seeing you at the reunion. Also glad to be seen! Love to all and best wishes always, Ellen Gold RR Nelson |

Hi all, I joined the Navy after high school, and spent 4 years aboard Nuclear Submarines. I then went to work for Northern States Power Company (later XCEL Energy) and worked for them for 40 years. My last assignment was as the Construction Manager for a new coal fired power plant in Pueblo, Colorodo. I have been married for 42 years to my wife Sophie. We have three children, and two grandchildren. One of my daughters is currently pregnant with identical twin girls which is very exciting for us. I won't be able to attend the 45th anniversary party, but am going to try to attend the casual get together on Friday night at the Park Tavern. |

As I look back at the last 50 years of my life, many thoughts and memories race through my mind. Time has really flown by! Here’s a brief synopsis of my life since graduation:
I began my college education at the University of Minnesota having no idea what to major in, so I began with the basic CLA classes. By chance, I took a Photography class and it really “clicked” for me. I went on to take Ceramics and other Studio Arts classes and discovered that I really love the creative process and decided to major in art. I met my future wife, Ruthie, who was also an art major and we married in 1969. While in college, I played in a couple of bands: “The Fops”, a rock & roll band with fellow classmates Barry Siewert and Dave Schodde and “King James and His Fabulous Disciples”, a rhythm & blues band with Dave Schodde.
After college graduation, I went on to get my Masters Degree in Education at St Thomas College. I taught in Bloomington, MN and Waterloo, WI for two years, then I took a position in Menomonie, WI to enable us to be closer to our families. Menomonie has been our home for more than 40 wonderful years. I taught 2-D and 3-D High School Art classes with photography and ceramics being my specialties. I retired from teaching in 2004.
We have two married daughters, Becky and Abby, and I couldn’t be more proud of them! Both followed in their Dad’s footsteps and became teachers. Between the two of them, they have blessed us with two great sons-in-law and seven precious grandkids, ages 2 to 10.
Since retiring from teaching, I’ve been an adjunct teacher at UW-Stout & UW-Eau Claire, a substitute teacher in the Menomonie Schools. I’m also a part time potter (check out my online shop: AlethiaPottery.etsy.com). For fun, Ruthie and I love spending time with our kids and their families, gardening, working on our creative projects, enjoying day trips to the Twin Cities, vacationing on the North Shore and being active in our church.
While we would love to attend the 50th Class Reunion, Ruthie and I will be spending that week on Lake Superior in Tofte, MN celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary.
